Multistate
- A bipartisan coalition of 42 attorneys general announced a multistate settlement with the bankruptcy trustee for 23andMe, resolving allegations stemming from a 2023 data breach that compromised the genetic data of 6.9 million customers worldwide. The settlement includes $150 million in allowed claims for states, but due to the finite amount of funds in the bankruptcy estate, the court limited recovery to $18 million which will be paid out immediately.

- A multistate coalition of 22 attorneys general submitted a comment letter urging the Trump Administration to withdraw a proposed information collection request associated with Executive Order 14398, “Addressing DEI Discrimination by Federal Contractors.” The proposed collection would impose reporting, recordkeeping, and information-sharing obligations on federal contractors and subcontractors in connection with a new prohibition to be included in federal contracts related to DEI activities. The coalition argued that the proposed collection would violate the Paperwork Reduction Act, that the public notice did not provide enough information for meaningful public comment and underestimated the burden on contractors, and that the proposal does not establish adequate protections for sensitive and personally identifiable information.

- A multistate coalition of 17 attorneys general settled with egg producers Cal-Maine Foods, Centrum/Versova, and Hickman’s Egg Ranch, alleging that the companies conspired to coordinate their bidding activities to artificially inflate daily egg prices published by Urner Barry, a benchmark pricing service. The settlement requires the egg producers to donate more than 53 million eggs and make non-penalty, monetary payments totaling $3.3 million to the states for consumer protection enforcement.

- Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin announced the 2026 Fraud and Consumer Protection Summit, to be held September 28–29 at the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock. - A multistate coalition of 48 attorneys general obtained a settlement with Lannet Company, Inc., Bausch Health US, LLC, and Bausch Health Americas, Inc. totaling $17.85 million. The coalition alleged that the drug manufacturers entered into a price fixing scheme that inflated prices on generic drugs.
- A multistate coalition of 21 attorneys general, four cities, and one county, put forward a comment letter opposing the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s proposed rule that would weaken fuel economy standards and remove the CAFE credit trading program. The coalition argues that the new rule is illegal and would harm consumers and the EV industry.

- A bipartisan coalition of 23 state attorneys general submitted a comment letter opposing two proposed rules by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency that would preempt state laws requiring minimum interest payments on mortgage-escrow accounts by national banks. The letter asserts that the proposed rules are an improper attempt to circumvent congressional limits on bank preemption under the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, and would interfere with the states’ constitutional authority to protect consumers.
