Multistate

  • A bipartisan coalition of 34 attorneys general filed a remedies proposal in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York seeking to require Live Nation to divest Ticketmaster and certain Live Nation-owned amphitheaters. The proposal follows a jury verdict finding Live Nation/Ticketmaster liable for anticompetitive conduct that harmed consumers and the live music industry. The coalition argues that these structural remedies are necessary to end Live Nation’s illegal monopoly, prevent it from continuing to use its amphitheater ownership to exclude rival promoters and pressure artists, and protect consumers because prior behavioral remedies failed to stop the company’s unlawful conduct.

Multistate

  • A coalition of 17 state attorneys general filed a lawsuit against the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), alleging violations of federal law after the agency repealed stricter limits on mercury and other hazardous air pollutant emissions from coal-fired and oil-fired power plants that were previously outlined in the Mercury and Air Toxics Standards (MATS) Rule. The coalition seeks injunctive relief to reinstate the updated emissions standards, arguing that the EPA’s action endangers public health and the environment and failed to consider advances in emissions control technologies.

  • A coalition of 13 attorneys general filed a lawsuit challenging the Trump Administration’s unlawful termination of funding for congressionally mandated energy and infrastructure programs created in laws including the Inflation Reduction Act and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. The suit challenges decisions by the Department of Energy and the Office of Management and Budget to slash billions of dollars in energy and infrastructure funding across the country and requests injunctive relief.
